Assessment on Ukraine Power Transmission Resiliency

Energy
Eastern Europe and Central Asia
Client World Bank
Country・Area Ukraine
Supported by the World Bank and Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), this initiative assists Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s national transmission system operator which manages 94 substations and over 20,000 kilometers of overhead lines across Ukraine, to enhance the resiliency of Ukraine's power transmission infrastructure by upgrading aging assets and integrating drone technology for disaster management.
The project addresses disaster risks by assessing Ukrenergo's needs, reviewing global best practices for drone applications, defining drone specifications for procurement, evaluating local production potential, conducting financial analyses, and implementing capacity-building programs. This initiative ultimately improves power reliability, strengthens disaster response capabilities, and supports Ukraine's integration into European power systems.
