SMILE Project Connecting Students in Japan and Abroad
Joint Research Initiative between PADECO Co., Ltd. and Chuo University
On May 1, 2025, the Education Development Department of PADECO Co., Ltd. entered into a joint research agreement with Chuo University. This collaborative research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of and enhance the operational framework of the international online exchange program, Students Meet Internationally through Language Education (SMILE).
The SMILE Project is designed to connect students in Japan and overseas through language education in an online environment, fostering intercultural understanding and strengthening communication skills. Through participation in the program, students engage with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds, developing practical language proficiency and a global perspective.
Under this joint research initiative, the following areas will be addressed:
• Improvement of program content and operational methods
• Measurement and analysis of learning outcomes
• Development of a sustainable implementation framework
Through these efforts, the project seeks to expand the potential of international online exchange in educational settings. The research will also generate practical insights to inform the development of future education models.
Research Overview
This study will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the SMILE Project’s effectiveness. By examining operational practices and analyzing program data, the research aims to measure educational impact, validate outcomes, and establish a more effective implementation framework.
Research Components:
• Analysis of improvements in English communication skills
• Evaluation of the program’s impact on fostering autonomous learning
• Formulation of program enhancement proposals and establishment of an implementation model
Leveraging its extensive experience in international education and human resource development, PADECO will work closely with Chuo University to further advance the SMILE Project and promote international educational exchange.
