From July of 2004 to July of 2009 JICA conducted the "University of the Philippines IT Human Resources Development Project". This project aimed to train college graduates or IT engineers at the University of the Philippines IT Training Center ("UP-ITTC") to meet the needs of the IT industry. As the result, a model case of was established whereby engineers were trained regularly and then deployed to the industry through government-business-academia collaboration. UP-ITTC needs to enhance its human resource development function to deploy more value-added human resources to the industry and needs to reinforce its financial foundations to secure its sustainability. PADECO is working to train UP-ITTC's trainers on advanced technology, such as embedded systems, network systems and system audits to establish new short-term training courses and enhance financial planning.
