The Upper Secondary and Professional Teachers' Development (USPTD) Project was formulated in response to the need for a skilled and educated workforce to meet the demands generated by rapid economic growth in Viet Nam. Specifically, it aimed to improve access to and the quality of Upper Secondary (US) and Professional Secondary (PS) education. Project outcomes included: (i) improved content and methodology of pre-service and in-service teacher training programs; (ii) formulation of a comprehensive policy framework for teacher development; (iii) development of criteria and standards for accreditation of teacher training programs; (iv) strengthening of education management through training on data collection, management, and analysis; and (v) improvement of facilities of Teacher Training Institutes to strengthen instructional capacity.
