The Instituto Nacional de Estadistica (INE) is a public sector institute of the Government of Guatemala that undertakes various national and household surveys. The resulting analyzed data is made available to a broad range of clients including the Government, the private sector and academia. INE was experiencing delays from the point of data capture to the distribution to users, which stems from constraints in both system and institutional capacity. By enhancing INE’s management systems and providing technical assistance/training, it was expected that the TC will equip INE to provide its users with timely and accurate data in a manner consistent with user needs. The TC focused on assisting INE to enhance both data management and the use of information technology (IT), through both system development and on-the-job training.
