Consulting Services for Preparation of Strategies for Cotton Sector Development in West and Central Africa

WB intended to study the cotton development strategy in WCA in light of full implementation of WTO Agreement. The team had to survey the present status of cotton sector, prepare integrated strategy including (i) production and ginning, (ii) marketing and trade, (iii) textile and garment development, and (iv) social impact and poverty reduction (iii) The team needed to prepare four reports including action plans and executive summaries. The team needed to prepare proposals for the competitiveness of the sector in consideration of privatisation of the sector. The consultants needed to prepare regional cooperation programs to strengthen the sector based on individual development strategy in each country, which will be regional cotton research proposal and regional cotton exchange.
