Country・Area South Asia and Southeast Asia
February 10, 2022 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Japan, and the 50th anniversary of the JICA's cooperation with Bangladesh in 2023. Bangladesh's economy has grown remarkably, and has achieved such growth that it has set the goal of graduating from the Least Developed Countries (LDC) by 2024 and becoming a developed country by 2041. In recent years, Japanese companies in the fields of pharmaceuticals, motorcycle manufacturing, and construction have entered the country with an eye on its large domestic market.

As a milestone in JICA's 50 years of cooperation, this project is intended to preserve for posterity statistical information on JICA's contributions to the economic and social development of the country, as well as the results of each cooperative program, in the form of archival materials. The project also aimed at strengthening the relationship of trust between the two countries and to further build friendly relations at both the public and private levels.
