The Government of Syria requested assistance from the Government of Japan for the expansion of school buildings and facilities to improve learning conditions. This survey (i) investigated the current situation of basic education and examined the content of the request of the Government of Syria in order to provide more effective cooperation; (ii) conceptualized a range of JICA cooperation programs to address the challenges in the basic education sector in Syria after conducting a basic education sector study; and (iii) examined the feasibility of an education project plan requested by the Government of Syria.
