This study updated information in relation to Japan’s Initiatives for Promotion of African Resources Development, which were declared by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of the Government of Japan during the Japan-Africa Ministerial Meeting for Natural Resources Development and Japan Sustainable Mining, Investment & Technology Business Forum (J-SUMIT) held in May 2013. PADECO conducted research to update the information provided by the participating governments, including: (i) major infrastructure projects related to natural resources development (railway, roads, ports, electricity, water resources); (ii) major human resources initiatives related to natural resource development; (iii) major environmentally sustainable initiatives related to natural resource development; and (iv) major initiatives for harmonious coexistence with the larger community (corporate social responsibility).
