In Palestine, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in the economy, representing 97% of all enterprises and employing 87% of the workforce. However, MSMEs face significant challenges, including weak management infrastructure, limited administrative capacity, insufficient market information, and restricted access to finance. These challenges are exacerbated by the underdevelopment of financial institutions, limited access to financial services, and the immaturity of the creditworthiness, legal, and regulatory frameworks, resulting in inadequate financial access for Palestinian businesses.
Specific obstacles for MSMEs include a lack of data and financial literacy necessary to meet banking requirements, while the banking sector struggles with insufficient analysis of MSMEs' needs and the development of tailored financial products.
In response to these challenges, this survey aims to identify the needs and bottlenecks faced by both MSMEs and the banking sector in improving access to finance. It also seeks to evaluate training materials, assess training institutions, and explore future collaboration opportunities with JICA to enhance financial access.
