The Project for Strengthening Teacher Education Colleges for Basic Education Quality (S-TEC)
Client JICA
Country・Area South Asia and Southeast Asia
The Government of Cambodia has been promoting educational reforms to develop industrial human resources and working toward four-year teacher training programs. JICA has contributed to the establishment of four-year teacher training colleges (PTEC and BTEC) in Phnom Penh and Battambang to send teachers out to primary and lower secondary schools. However, there is still a need to strengthen the teaching capacity of instructors and support the establishment of new TECs. This project aims to establish a mechanism to improve education throughout Cambodia by making P/BTEC a center for teacher education, strengthening cooperation between P/BTEC and affiliated schools, establishing a system for improving teaching, strengthening internal quality assurance (IQA), and strengthening the capacity of teachers at the two new TECs.
